USC-Loker Track Stadium_MeetingPlace Please join us! Team ISPE Los Angeles will be volunteering Saturday August 1 the Special Olympics World Games this summer in Los Angeles.

I’ve attached a map.  We will meet at 12 noon, tomorrow 8/1 Saturday at the corner of McClintock Ave and Child’s Way and enter USC Loker Stadium so that we can sit together.  Margaret cell # is 562 355-5859 if you get lost.

The world is coming and you are part of the largest sport and humanitarian event in the world in 2015. Your enthusiasm, team spirit, and cheering ability will encourage Special Olympics athletes from around the world to do their best. You’ll witness the courage, determination, and joy that exemplifies a Special Olympics athlete.  The Fans in the Stands program is an opportunity to get involved and be a supporter of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games! Fans in the Stands looks to create an exciting atmosphere of support for athletes during competition.
 
Parking USC – Campus lots $12.  Some of us will be using public transportation, Metro trains run nearby.
 
Prohibited Items The following is the Games Wide Prohibited Items List:
• Drugs/alcohol (no alcohol will be served at Special Olympic Events) • Pop-up tents inside of venues • Animals (except assistive animals) • Fireworks • Firearms • Weapons, knives and explosives • This is a smoke-free event. Tobacco use is not permitted at any location including cigarettes, cigars, pipes and smokeless products  • Professional cameras, (lenses longer than 3”) or video and/or audio recording equipment Horns or other noisemakers, musical instruments or large music players • Frisbees, balls • Signs, posters, placards or banners exceeding (30” by 36”) inches in size. Handles or supports may not exceed ¼” thickness, ¾” width, and 18” in length – all such handles or supports shall be made of wood without exception • Hard or soft sided coolers of any size • Skateboards, roller skates and rollerblades • Outside food and drink (a reasonable amount of water for individual personal consumption will be permitted)

The 2015 Special Olympics World Games – being staged in Los Angeles July 25-August 2, 2015 – will be the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world in 2015, and the single biggest event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games. The 2015 Special Olympics World Games, with the unparalleled spirit, enthusiasm, teamwork, joy and displays of courage and skill that are hallmarks of all Special Olympics events, will feature 25 Olympic-style sports in venues throughout the Los Angeles region. The Opening Ceremony, to be held July 25, 2015 in the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games, is expected to attract 80,000 spectators. On April 30, 2014, LA2015 and ESPN announced a global programming deal that will see ESPN bring coverage of World Games to millions of fans around the world. ISPE Los Angeles will be participating in the Fans In the Stands program, a great opportunity to get involved and volunteer at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games!  Our team must be available a minimum of 4 hours during one day or evening of competition (July 25 – August 2, 2015) to cheer on athletes.  Let us know your availability, and join Team ISPE Los Angeles.  This is a great networking opportunity and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of something pretty spectacular.Fans in Stands DL
